SELLING YOUR PORSCHE

Weissach Autohaus will sell your Porsche for you – it’s fast, it's safe and it’s easy.

What is your time worth? If you are planning on selling your Porsche yourself you’ll need to consider what your time is worth because it is probably going to take quite a bit longer to sell your car than you might expect. I like the rule of thumb that says when selling a Porsche privately allow 1 month for each $10,000 of value. For example, if you are selling a 1986 911 coupe valued at $20,000 plan on it taking you two months or more to sell. Selling a $70,000 turbo? Yep, ‘fraid so.

We are finding that an increasing number of Porsche sellers are asking Weissach Autohaus to sell their car for them rather than attempting to sell it on their own. These folks know that their time is worth more than the months it’s going to take to sell. Not to mention the aggravation of buyers who never show, the "send more pictures" buyers, and of course, the “wouldjatakes” (“would 'ja take half of your asking price?”).

Weissach Private Vehicle Sales: We sell your car for you

The most important elements of selling an expensive car are known credibility, visibility and presentation. Weissach Autohaus is proud to be able to bring all three elements to your car. By selling hundreds and hundreds of Porsche cars to well satisfied customers over the years (see our Testimonials) we have built a solid reputation for quality. Your car on our website and with our representation carries instant credibility, the Good Housekeeping Seal of Pre-owned Porsches. With that we have built a rather large following amongst Porsche owners and potential buyers who look to our website for the latest in offerings. And we hope you'll agree after looking at the cars we have listed that we know how to present a car at its best. Put it altogether and we can sell your car quickly and with the best net return for you.
Weissach offers two levels of service when it comes to selling your car.
Full Broker Selling Service- In short, we sell your car for you. We'll do the all important photography, list the car on our website and the national listings and field all the phone calls from prospective buyers. We'll let them know what selling price you need and make arrangements to show a qualified buyer your car. During this time, the car stays with you so you can continue to take care of your baby and have access to it. This fact alone makes our sellers very happy campers.
Think of our process as being analogous to that of a real estate broker. A real estate broker is responsible for finding a buyer for the seller's house but while it is being sold the house typically stays with the seller!!

When a deal is struck a cashiers check will be issued to you and we will ask for a small percentage fee of the selling price. The fee varies with the age and price of the car but is typically in the $1500 range. Give us a call to discuss the process in more detail. You can also access the Broker Agreement with the link below. We are confident that our solid reputation in the market, our high traffic website and our ability to accept trade ins and provide other dealer only services will produce a happy home for your car.

Photo and Prep Service--If you are comfortable fielding the calls from buyers (no small task in some cases!) Weissach Autohaus can just do the front end work of getting your car online. We suggest not over looking the importance of this step as it is the first impressions of your car that count. An online buyer will have no shortage of cars to look at and you need your car to stand out from the crowd by showing professionalism and accuracy. I can't count the number of early 996 cars that I've seen listed with "PASM" as an option. To any savvy buyer this immediately puts your car into questionable credibility. Keep in mind that there is a good chance that we would normally have more success selling your car than you would privately since we can offer other services such as accepting trade ins and doing the registrations. Our reputation and following will also give your car instant credibility if it is listed with us. Give us a call, we'd be happy to discuss in more detail.

What is the Retail Market Value of your Porsche?  As tough as this is to hear, your Porsche is worth what the market says that year and mileage will bring.  And I’m afraid to report that most of the options that were purchased when the car was new and much of the maintenance and service work that was done has little effect on the car’s present value.  Options help sell the car but don’t really change the value much, if at all. I also would not put too much credence in the Kelley Blue Books and NADA references. I can't speak for other makes and models but they sure don't reflect any relevant pricing when it comes to most Porsche cars. Just check the KBB or NADA pricing on a '96 C4S if you need further proof!

One of the best ways to check market pricing of your car is to visit Cars.com or Autotrader.com and see what the dealers are asking for similar cars with similar mileage. Car dealers are in business to sell cars and they will usually price realistically. I would skip over what the private sellers are asking for their cars because those cars are usually priced with too much emotional connection to the vehicle, something the psychologists call "Endowment Effect". Also, the highest price car listed by a dealer is not likely to be the correct market price since dealers can be crazy at times too.  Look for a price somewhere in the middle and keep in mind that this is the “asking price” - the actual sell price will be a few thousand dollars less. The result of all this is the potential realistic retail market value of your Porsche if it was to be sold by a dealer. If you were to sell your car yourself without the aid of a dealer like Weissach Autohaus your price would usually need to be set at a lower price than the dealer price since most prospective buyers would rather purchase an expensive item like a Porsche from a dealer.
